Adventure to Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho is the world’s highest lakes, newly discovered glacial lake. The region of northern side of Lamjung Himal and Kajin Sara Lake was first explored by the Japanese mountaineers.
Hence the name of the lake is Kajin Sara, close beneath the Lamjung Himal located in North Mid-West Nepal. The Lamjung Himal at 6,983 m/22,910 feet,
is the major mountain around Kajin Sara Lake and Shinkar Himal. Lamjung Himal is situated east of Annapurna and west from Manaslu Himalayan ranges. The trek leads wholly within Manang districts of Gandaki province, just few days away from Chame Town, Manang.
Kajin Sara or Shindig Tsho, a glacial lake formed by the glaciers of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II and IV. Lamjung Himal, first climbed in 1974 by Derrick Chamberlain and Phillip Neame. At present few mountaineers ventures for the climb mostly from the southern sides Lamjung Himal.
The north sides of Lamjung Himal are unknown and least explored by only few groups of adventurers. This is where the world’s highest Kajin Sara Lake is located, was discovered in 2019 by the mountaineers.
Kajin Sara / Shinkar Tsho Lake trek will be a great opportunity for all trekkers to venture on off-the-beaten trails. Since Kajin Sara was regarded as the world’s highest lake, from then on few interested travelers seldom visits.
The Kajin Sara / Shinkar Tsho Lake trek is one of the shortest and most scenic adventures in the complete mountain wilderness. The walk leads you amidst the serene harmony of pristine nature, away from the main busy trail of Annapurna Circuit.
For decades Tilicho Lake was considered, the highest lake at 4,919 m or
16,138 feet. Then by chance, Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho was discovered near to Chame, the headquarters town of the Manang district.
The Tilicho Lake is 4 km long and 1.2 km wide with a depth of 200 m.
Kajin Sara Lake is 1,500 m long and 600 m wide, it is about 24 km/15 miles from Chame Town.
After an exciting adventure to Kajin Sara world’s highest lakes, then head back Kathmandu via Chame. The duration of the trek is about a week, having a leisure and ample time for acclimatization. As well to explore the unexplored and undisturbed region of Kajin Sara/Shinkar Tsho Lake.

Itinerary of ADVENTURE TO KAJIN SARA THE WORLD’S HIGHEST LAKES
Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport, received by our guides and staff for short transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.
Checking your lovely room, and after a refreshing rest, then join with other members of Adventure to Kajin Sara Lake Trekking. Our guide or group leader brief you about the treks, do’s and don’ts, local culture, as well camping, foods and of lodges, camping on route trek.
A full good information which will help to enjoy your adventure with us, followed with welcome group dinner in a Nepalese restaurant with folk-culture program as entertainment while you enjoy the dinner.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then the adventure begins with an exciting overland
Journey to Bhesishar Town. The drive follows to lower warm farm villages and
towns, then diverts from the main Pokhara and Kathmandu highway.
The drive then heads towards Lamjung district at Bhesishar for overnight halt, the
headquarter town of Lamjung district. On reaching Bhesishar the gateway to
various adventure around Lamjung, Annapurna and Manaslu Himal.
After checking into a nice lodge rooms, enjoy a stroll around the streets of
Bhesishar Town, lined with shops, stores and restaurants. A good way to
experience and observe the local cultures of the natives Gurung and other hill
tribes.

From Bhesishar the drive follows Masrsyangdi River to Syange village, and then on winding uphill to Jagat, Chamje. As the drive enters Manang areas from Talbesi to reach Dharapani and Chame Town for lunch and overnight stop.
Chame is a large town and headquarters of Manang district. Enjoy the comfort of a nice lodge, having time to explore the Hill town.

Tea HouseDay 04 Trek to Lamjung Himal Base Camp
After a good breakfast at Chame, and loading camping gear and baggage on a mule, horse and by porters. Starting the great adventure towards Kajin Sara/ Shinkar Lake via Lamjung Himal Base Camp. The walk follows to a short motor road. Then the trail follows towards Lamjung Himal Base Camp, a lovely hike through beautiful serene forest filled with pine trees. The path leads to level winding route, then climb up to Lamjung Himal Base Camp. Trekkers must follow the lead guide, as there are two different paths, which leads to the same point with newly built and the old path. The old worn trail is replaced due to difficult
terrains and damages by landslides. The newly constructed paths is much easier following our expert guides.
After a few hours of short steep climb reaching a grassy meadow amidst boulders of rocks and moraine at Lamjung Base Camp. A place with a simple small stone built hut, made for travelers and trekkers. Enjoy the dramatic surrounding scenery of towering majestic peaks of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II towards west.
Camp is made on a grassy meadow for late lunch and overnight stops.
Rest of the afternoon explore the hidden pockets of Lamjung Himal Base Camp.
Important to know the source of clean water is scarce, due to barren and dry landscapes. The kitchen and camping staff and porters needs to hike for an hour or less to fetch the clean water. So that they can serve good meals for all trekkers and staff.

The walk from Lamjung Himal base camp follows a vague rocky path.
Adventure continues with few short climbs to a small rocky ridges amidst scenic views of surrounding giant snow peaks. After a short while, reaching above a small glacial pond shaped like a heart hence it known as Love Lake.
Enjoy a refreshing rest, having good lunch, after completing the good walks from Lamjung Himal Base Camp to Love Lake. Overnight in tented camps on a grassy meadow enclosed by towering snow mountain ranges.

Shinkar Himal, and is also called Shinkar Tsho. Enjoy the grand super views of the surrounding giant peaks. The peaks of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal appears in different shapes than from the southern sides.
The views includes Lamjung Himal and Koto Peak, and the pristine waters of Kajin Sara, certainly makes you feel refreshed. After a great wonderful experience trek back to Love Lake for lunch and overnight camping.

Enjoy the day for good walks to our major destination Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho, Lake. The walk is moderate compared to previous days with less steep ups to negotiate. After a good breakfast, enjoy the morning glorious views and start the trek to Kajin Sara Lake. Which was discovered in 2019 by a group of Japanese mountaineers, hence they named in Japanese language. The native of Manang calls Shinkar Tsho, as it close to the glaciers of a small Shinkar peak.
The word Tsho means lake, of Tibetan language origin, after a short hike brings you at Kajin Sara Lake. Located beneath the glaciers of Shinkar Himal, and is also called Shinkar Tsho. Enjoy the grand super views of the surrounding giant peaks. The peaks of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal appears in different shapes than from the southern sides.

Morning breakfast amidst majestic views of surrounding towering snow-capped peaks. Leaving the camp at Love Lake, enjoy the last longest day trek to Chame Town, a pleasant walk downhill. The trail follows with few short climb to near Lamjung Himal Base Camp. After a good rest for possible lunch stop, walk continues heading down through lovely pines and rhododendrons forest.
After a good pleasant trek reaches the main road and then back at Chame for last overnight around Manang areas.

Start the day as early as possible after a good breakfast, the morning drive covers about 66 km/41 miles to Bhesishar. On reaching the large town of Bhesishar, drive leads on a good road to join the main highway at Dumre.
From Bhesishar the driving distance of about 177 km/ 110 miles to Kathmandu, following the main busy highway. After an interesting drives of more than six hours reaching amidst the bustling city life of Kathmandu. On arrival transfer to respective hotels reaching by late afternoon or evening time.

Trip Information of ADVENTURE TO KAJIN SARA THE WORLD’S HIGHEST LAKES
The best seasons are spring and autumn, when most days are clear and fine for views and walks. The spring starts in March and ends at May, one of the peak seasons for Kajin Sara Lake trek. Days are fine with sunny days, but can get overcast sometimes with chances of light rains and snowfall.
It is also the best season for when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom. Especially the rhododendrons of all species and colors, the national flowers of Nepal. Morning, late afternoon, and nights are cold but with longer sunshine hours from dawn till dusk.
The next best season is autumn/fall, most days with crystal clear sky for views and treks and full of sunshine. Gets dark soon due to short sunshine hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Morning, late afternoon and nights are cold with chances of snowfall sometimes.
Interested trekkers can enjoy the trek during the winter times of Christmas and New Year Holidays also, despite the cold winter.
Days are full of sunshine and bright for clear views and pleasant walks. But gets dark soon by 5 a.m. due to limited sunshine hours in winter months, chances of snowfall sometimes. Freezing morning temperatures until sun comes and gets cold by late afternoon and night time. But with clear and bright starry night sky with silhouette mountain views.
