After a delightful breakfast, we drive to Ulleri, the starting point of the trek. This will take about 2 hours of driving, with some great views of the surrounding countryside. As we head out from pokhara, some beautiful rural landscapes with the terracing of fields, quaint villages, and distant mountain views greet us. Winding its way along hillsides, and through small settlements, it plunges into the natural beauty of the region.
From Ulleri, it’s upwards on some gorgeous landscapes for about 5 to 6 hours of walking, this part of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is considered slightly more challenging, but every tiredness is well rewarding with the arrival to Ghorepani Village.
You will pass several small villages of Magar and Gurung on the route, where the friendly locals are often seen working on their farms or carrying out daily activities. The villages provide a peaceful, rustic atmosphere that allows the trekkers to understand the prevailing local life in the region of Annapurna. The final step of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a soft downhill trek from Tadapani via the picturesque village of Ghandruk to Nayapul and then on to drive back to Pokhara. This part of the trek is relatively easy and affords ample opportunity to enjoy the last views of the mountains before one gets back to the city.
The trek from Tadapani starts with a downwards trek on a wonderfully forested trail. This part of the trek passes through a mixture of forests, terrace fields, and villages. You will go by small local villages such as Chomrong and eventually reach Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a big, enchanting Gurung village. It offers fantastic views of the Annapurna South and Machapuchare peaks. The village is full of traditional stone houses and narrow, serpentine streets that remind one of village life in the Himalayas. It is also a very good spot for a photo shoot, with a spectacular backdrop of mountains.
Ghandruk to Nayapul is a nice and easy trek, all downhill, so it is a great way to end your trek on relatively easy terrain. Arrive at Nayapul and drive comfortably to Pokhara, which marks the end of your trek.
