Trip Information of Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking
Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking is altitude friendly, where elevation gains at gradual pace. However, our guide has undergone with much training and attending workshop on related fields every year. Like Medical Course with enough knowledge of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) and proper use of Gamma Bag or Portable Altitude Chamber (PAC) pressure bags. When required on emergency purpose on high AMS symptoms and to work on minor medical problem treatments. But on Kanchenjunga Circuit Gamow Bag is not required, as trekkers will be well acclimatized. As the trek progresses from destinations to another, by the time reaching both the South and North Base Camps of Kanchenjunga, all will be acclimatized.
In case of emergency if some people get mild headache, due to High Altitude, can easily walk down to safe heights.
Causes of Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS):
Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) is caused by reduced of air pressure with lower oxygen levels at high altitude. The faster you climb to a high altitude; more likely to catch acute mountain sickness (AMS).
Symptoms:
Difficulty in sleeps. Dizziness or light-headed. Fatigue. Headache. Loss of appetite.
Nausea or vomiting. Rapid pulse (heart rate). Shortness of breath with exertion.
Treatment:
Altitude mountain sickness is easier to treat in the early stage. The main treatment for all forms of mountain sickness is head down (descend) towards lower altitude. As fast as you can with support of the guide and staff.
Extra oxygen should be given, if available. People with severe altitude mountain sickness should be admitted to a hospital or evacuated by any fastest means of transportation. Like using the support of Helicopter Service.
Some doctors suggest you Acetazolamide (Diamox), this medicine helps you to feel better if you are trekking in high altitude areas. It also helps you to reduce mild symptoms. This medicine works best when you take it before you start the trek and gaining much higher altitude. Loong Adventures advice to consult with your doctor or medical personal.
While climbing higher elevation:
Drink plenty of fluids (water-plain black tea-lemon-tea or nutritional value drinks). Avoid alcohol while going up, it okay on the way down. Eat a lot of garlic’s (this is local way of fighting altitude). Avoid high altitudes treks, if you have heart or lung disease. In case of emergency, you will be immediately airlifted by Helicopter to Kathmandu and transfer you to nearest and best hospitals.
Being positive and taking things as it comes, and to expect the unexpected. As well as taking the trip as a journey rather than a destination, makes you feel better to enjoy. Taking advice and co-operating with the guide and trek leader, taking things slowly. Rest is to enjoy the views along with good meals and sound sleep.

At present the areas is known as the classic routes of Kanchenjunga trek and mountaineering. In 1979 British Mountaineer Pete Boardman stated that the walk to the base of Kanchenjunga was the most beautiful he had ever undertaken. It is a strong contender for “The most beautiful walk in the world.”
The word Kanchenjunga comes from old Tibetan and translates to “Five treasures of snow.” Local inhabitants have worshiped these holy mountains for as long as their stories go back in time. The five treasures are Gold, Silver, Precious Stones, Grain, and Holy Scriptures, referring to the five individual peaks of the Khangchendzonga Himal range.
Kanchenjunga lies on the far eastern side of Nepal, near the border with Sikkim, a tiny Himalayan state in the north-eastern part of India. It is the 3rd highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,586 meters.
Although first climbed in 1955 is was not until the late 1980’s that restrictions were lifted to allow trekkers rather than just mountaineering expeditions to approach Kanchenjunga from Nepal. Special, restricted permits are needed to enter as you traverse the pristine conservation areas. Solo hiking is not allowed and local guides must be employed to obtain permits.

Reviews on Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking

I never realized that I will be so close and in front of towering Mt. Kanchenjunga.
The trek was a memorable experience walking high above the tree lines at Kanchenjunga South and North Base Camps. Amidst beautiful landscapes along with an array of Himalayan high peaks. Fascinating movement from the beginning to the end on Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking.
Thanks to the team of Loong Adventures staff were so good and helpful.

Being close to world’s 3rd highest Mt. Kanchenjunga was a breathtaking experience. As well as camping with delightful meals from breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared by the expert camping chef.
Thanks to Loong Adventures for taking care of all the booking and arrangements.

I arrived in Nepal for trekking, after booking with the best local trekking agency Loong Adventures. I was glad choosing the right and best adventure company for Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. It was a mind blowing experience to enjoy with friendly and good knowledgeable staff and guides.
