FAQs of MOUNT DHAULAGIRI CIRCUIT TREKKING

It is not as popular as other mainstream trekking adventures like the Annapurna, Everest, Langtang, or Manaslu Circuit. Due to its remote locations, where lodges are not the best than other trekking areas. Trekkers have to spend overnights in a tented camp and carry food for the whole trek. The other reason is that Dhaulagiri Circuit is quite a tough trek that involves walking on glaciers and moraines for a few days. But over the past decades, it has slowly drawn more trekkers due to its tranquil and remote locations.

The best time for this trek is late spring from April to May, and autumn/fall from September to November. Spring and autumn are the best times for trekking around the Himalayas. Most days are longer with enough sunny days. However, with cold mornings, late afternoons, and nighttime. It can get snowfall sometimes, even in the best time of the season.

The other good season is autumn/fall, most days are bright and beautiful for scenic walks and views. But the sunlight hours are shorter, gets dark soon. Cold morning, and in the late afternoon till nighttime. It can get snowfall sometimes during the trek above 2,500 m.

The trekking permits required TIMS (Trekking Information Management Systems), issued by the trekking agents in Kathmandu.  Includes ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) fees, as this trek ends near around the Annapurna region at lower Mustang.

After booking the Mount Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek, collect all the information and details from the agent’s book. Get a Nepal Visa at your home country or on arrival at Kathmandu International Airport. Booking air tickets with a reliable airline with the shortest route to Kathmandu, as well as sending the advance trip cost, as per the rules of Loong Adventures.

Practice exercises to be fit and healthy for the chosen treks, and get a health check-up. As well as buying the necessary gear for the treks, and getting details of the trekking equipment list.

Simple and basic accommodation for an overnight halt, one can find the lodge or, guest house en route trek. But not up to the standard around remote isolated farm villages. The accommodation is simple due to the smaller number of visitors. The rooms are simple but clean with a common bath and toilets. Loong Adventures will provide the best camping equipment and food, with a separate unit of kitchen, backed by a cook, kitchen staff, along with porters and a guide.

The facilities for safe drinking water are available in every lodge and restaurant. From boiled, clean filtered water to bottled mineral water, but it is best to buy the boiled and filtered water. From the lodge where you spend overnight or lunch place, at an extra cost per liter.

We do not encourage bottled water, as it creates extra garbage, and all should follow responsible or eco-trekking norms. The bottled water can be much expensive than buying normal boiled filtered water as you reach higher areas. We only recommend for people who are sick and desperate from dehydration.

But most days, our camping cook and kitchen staff will provide safe boiled and filtered water to refill your water bottle for the day’s walks.
